Life is Better Together

New to First Baptist Gladewater?

You might be wondering, what’s it really like at First Baptist Gladewater? Simply stated at FBC Gladewater, we’re all about Jesus. You won’t be met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. And we don’t care how you’re dressed or what candidate you voted for. Our church is made up of imperfect people with every kind of story imaginable.
Want to know the best part? No matter what you’ve been through or what questions you might have about God and faith, our church is a place where you’ll find the love, grace, and forgiveness Jesus gives to everyone.
Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at FBC Gladewater a great one!
Service Times
  • Small Groups Sundays at 9:00 am
  • Worship Sundays at 10:15 am
What can I expect?
In total, a FBC Gladewater service is about 60 minutes in length. Services begin with music -song lyrics are projected on the screen so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of service is complete, our pastor, Bailey Harris will come out to share the message he has prepared.
What’s the Culture Like At FBC Gladewater?
Sundays at FBC Gladewater are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.
What About My Kids?
We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week- and at FBC Gladewater, we make this a priority. If your child is 4/5 years old through 3rd grade, we offer Children’s Church. This is a time during our service where our children have a snack and a lesson just for them! Look for our slide during worship and our adult leaders that will be at the front of our sanctuary near the piano.
Who we are
Here’s the deal, FBC Gladewater cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. FBC Gladewater is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom
Where we’re headed
What’s the bottom line? More than ever, FBC Gladewater is committed to fostering a family built around hope. Hope for the future. Hope for better. Hope for progress. Hope in Jesus. And as we move forward as a church family, inclusion and belonging remain at the center of who we are as followers of Christ.

Our Staff

Bailey Harris
(903) 374-5485
I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1960. I am the oldest of 3 children. God used my family as a key part of my journey of faith. I was fortunate to have a family that was connected to a local church. I grew up going to church and many of my close friendships were forged in the context of that church family. At the age of 11 my pastor helped lead me to make the decision to become a Christian. Five years later I said, “Yes”, to God’s call to serve Him as a minister.

While attending Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary, I met my wife, Tammy. We actually met through the single’s ministry of our church in Fort Worth. In 1988, we married just a few weeks after she completed her seminary degree. She is a key partner in the work God has called both of us to do in His church. We have two children. Elliott, our son, attends the University of Texas at San Antonio. Our daughter, Emilye, attends Baylor University. We are wrestling to adjust to this new empty nest season in our lives, but we are thrilled to see our kid’s own journeys unfolding before us.

Since 1991, I have been serving in local churches as the lead pastor. I have been here at FBC Gladewater since 2010.   I consider it a joy to lead our church and to help provide part of the pastoral care for our faith community. Our staff and volunteers do a great job of caring for the many needs here at FBC. We have a wonderful church family.

We have seen God do some great things as we have worked to upgrade facilities as well as restructure some of our ministry strategies. It is my expectation that each person that belongs to our faith community will find a place to be with others in fellowship, to serve alongside others in ministry, and to support what we are striving to do collectively to follow Christ in our community and beyond. Come and spend some time with us and see what it is like to be part of a loving church family.
